Philosophy: The Squier Ball Springboard Diving Camp's purpose is to give the participants the finest diving instruction possible, and at the same time, offer opportunities for recreation in the beautiful Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania.

Staff: The camp has a coaching ratio of 1 to 3. with a limit of 12 divers.  R. Squier Ball:   Camp Director and Professor ESU Foreign Language Dept.  ESU Men's and Women's Diving Coach 1969-1990.   Dove under Bob Clotworthy former Princeton University Coach who won gold medal in the 1956 Olympics.  International diving contacts from 1961-1995.   Squier dives in U.S. Diving Masters and Open events.   Todd Nesley:   Pocono Mountain High School Swimming and Diving Coach.   Trampoline spotter 1997-1999. Joe Piorkowski:   PIAA High School Bronze Medallist 1998.   Dives for University of Virginia. Staff also includes Drew Johansen and Eric Elliott.

At R. Squier Ball's private gym

The Program: Springboard Diving camp operates at three levels:   beginning, intermediate, and advanced.   All divers go through drills and review of basic techniques, strength and flexibility exercises, hurdle step, entries, trampoline with spotting belts, short lecture and video sessions on theory.  Equipment at R. Squier Ball's private gym includes:   Dry land board and tramp with rig.   All belts for somersaults and twists.   Crash pads and landing mat.   Video camera for daily review of dives.  Two 1 meter boards Model C(89) dura-flex cheese boards.   1/2 meter platform, trampoline, dry land board / porta-pit and one 1 meter which has overhead rig.   Protective devices for ears, backs and fronts.  A 7'x8' mirror to review form.  (Check out our TIVO System! and what makes us Different!)

Tubing down the Delaware River

Highlights: Films, videos, books, and magazines on diving, T-shirt  (complements of Springboard Diving Camp), Motivational and Goal oriented talks, Recreation emphasis on hiking the Appalachian Trail and Delaware River tubing trip.

Cost: $500 for each session paid 7 days in advance.   Day campers $430 for each session.  Campers might bring $20 pocket money.

Registration: Registration: Send in registration information one week in advance! Campers should check in, in person, on the Sunday before a camp week starts. Aside from the Sunday evening film orientation, each session goes from Monday morning to Saturday morning.

At ESU Pool
Locations: Squier Ball's Gym, Easton H.S., Stroudsburg Borough pool and Stroudsburg Park Pool which is located about 75 miles west of New York City and 85 miles northeast of Philadelphia. The Budget Motel is also off of exit 51 on the other side (south) of I-80.

Accommodations: Campers will stay at the Budget Motel, 800 yards from the East Stroudsburg University campus.   Boarding is provided for three divers per room.   Meals will be eaten at the hotel.   Wednesday night all campers gather for dinner at the camp directors residence. 

Eligibility: The Squier Ball Springboard Diving Camp is for boys and girls 12 years and older as boarders.  Day campers may be as young as 7 years.
